The longest day of the year, 19h21min of daylight here in Anchorage, has turned into an absolutely gorgeous evening.
Alaska at its best tonight. A beautiful sky to celebrate the Summer Solstice.
My wife, Devany, grabbed this shot with her phone last night around 10:15pm while driving home from the airport. A really big, healthy looking lynx, casually strolling along the side of the road and squinting in the bright sun. I sure wish she had had my good camera! They're a rare sighting.
The Alaska Range at 12:20am. We're one week away from Solstice. It's hard to sleep when it's this gorgeous out--that and the fact that it doesn't get much darker than this all night, even here in Anchorage.

Devany was asked to do a presentation for the Canadian Forestry Ministers at a Renewable Energy conference in Dawson City, Yukon Territory on June 8th. Sounded like the perfect opportunity for a long road trip and the chance to explore some new land, so we packed up the truck and headed out on the 7th. 1,230 miles later we're back home after an amazing trip. Come along for the ride. Captions on the photos will tell the story.
