Another night of magic.

Second night in a row of really nice aurora.  Some very interesting pale luminescent rivers of energy far south of the main body of aurora.  People are saying these just might be proton arcs.  I've never seen them before--barely visible to the naked eye.  The show started very early, with bands visible behind Flat Top around 9pm.  These were all shot between 2 and 4am.  Click on the image to view full screen.

First Aurora of the season.

Finally!  After missing a couple of big shows in the past month because of travel, camera repair, and knee surgery, I got to shoot some aurora at 4am this morning.  It wasn't as powerful a solar storm as predicted, but definitely worth getting up every half-hour to see if she'd show.   It lasted for about an hour.  Hoping for clear skies this winter!
