Still no whales to be found.

We spent another long weekend in Seward hoping the whales would finally be up in Resurrection Bay, but once again, there were none to be seen.  Gorgeous weather, but it's getting cold enough at night that we might have to call it a season for the motorhome.  Frozen water pipes are no fun.

Another weekend in Seward

Spent another wonderful weekend in Seward hoping to see a bunch of whales in Resurrection Bay like we did last year at this time.  Sadly, no whales, but still one of our favorite--and certainly one of the most scenic places, in Alaska (once the tourist season is over).  Sitting on the shore with a campfire going watching for critters.  Not a bad way to spend a couple of days.

Another night of magic.

Second night in a row of really nice aurora.  Some very interesting pale luminescent rivers of energy far south of the main body of aurora.  People are saying these just might be proton arcs.  I've never seen them before--barely visible to the naked eye.  The show started very early, with bands visible behind Flat Top around 9pm.  These were all shot between 2 and 4am.  Click on the image to view full screen.
