So I spent the second night in a row getting up every half-hour checking the sky for what was supposed to be another strong aurora display. The night before was a complete bust. Finally just before 4 am this morning she started popping a bit low on the horizon.
Gorgeous clear skies this afternoon with Alpenglow painting the Chugach Mountains orange as the sun sets while the moon rises.
Another day of ice fog filling the Anchorage Bowl below us. The trees are covered with thick hoar-frost that keeps growing every day.
Kissed my wife at the stroke of midnight, walked out into the living room to watch the tradition of illegal fireworks over the Anchorage bowl and instead found a nice light show in the sky! Not as strong as the night before, but I'll take it. Here's hoping each of you has a wonderful 2017 filled with love, laughter, adventure, family, and friends. I'm going to keep taking pictures. 2016 decided to put on one last really nice aurora display around 4 am this morning. It lasted about an hour and a half. Really active display. None of the patterns lasted very long, but it sure was a fun one to shoot. Here's wishing everyone a wonderful 2017.
