Golden Hour for real tonight.
The light and color during sunset this afternoon were amazing. Alpenglow brushing the mountains behind us and the clouds in front were brilliant orange for just a couple of minutes.

This morning about 9:30 am. The Anchorage Bowl is still covered with fog, so this is one of those times when it's nice to be up high.

It's almost full, and it just keeps getting better and better each night. We've been having an incredible run of great weather. Now I probably just cursed it ;)

Finally! On the third night of staying up waiting for aurora that was forecast to be only so-so, this happened! Shot between 12:15 am and 2 am. The really intense blast of swirls, curtains, spikes and pink colors only lasted about 3 minutes. What a fun morning! Click for full-screen.
So I spent the second night in a row getting up every half-hour checking the sky for what was supposed to be another strong aurora display. The night before was a complete bust. Finally just before 4 am this morning she started popping a bit low on the horizon.
