Good to see you again :)

Thought we just might have a strong auroral show last night/early this morning.  It started around 11 pm with a really high, wide band of green that sometimes is the indication that a big show is coming.  She cranked up right around midnight and was pretty active for about an hour, but the bright stuff never got very high off the horizon.  Still, fun to shoot--especially when it's warm at night!

Backcountry bliss.

We headed up to Turnagain Pass this afternoon for some true backcountry skiing.  The conditions were absolutely incredible.  Clear blue skies, bright sun and plenty of snow.  Many hours later, all three of us are beat, but in a good way.  This was one of those days that reminded us of why we love Alaska so much.

Surprise!

We've had an amazing run of aurora--eight nights in a row, which is the longest stretch I can remember in years when we've also had clear skies for that long.  Last night the forecasts looked like that run was going to be over, so I didn't prepare for another night of shooting.  Of course, when I woke up at 1 am and looked out the window, there she was!   Not very intense at all, but just enough time to get dressed and outside to grab a couple of shots before it ended.
