Another show early this morning around 12:30 am. We actually saw Aurora in Anchorage as early as 7:45 pm, which is crazy early for us. The intense action after midnight lasted only a couple of minutes, and then she settled down. There were very strong aurora last night visible all the way down into Wisconsin, and Canada got a great show, but she must have been tired when she finally got to Alaska because this was as strong as it got before I gave up at 2 am. Always a treat.
Lady Aurora really outdid herself early this morning here in Bear Valley. There was a brief teaser show around 10 pm--just enough to get geared up and outside in time for her to disappear. Then at midnight, she exploded! There was a bit of moisture in the air from all the fog we've been having lately, and the 3/4 moon didn't help at first, but it cleared up just in time for the really intense stuff. What a night! One of the most active displays we've had here in quite a while.
November 1st, and we still don't have any snow on the ground.
The fog layer is flirting just below the house, rising and falling throughout the day. Down in the Anchorage bowl, the kids will be trick-or-treating in the thick stuff, making it even spookier :)
Just before midnight saw a band of color on the horizon, but this is as strong as she got.
