Clear and cold.
The view of Denali from above the ice-fog on this clear, cold day. It almost feels like a real Alaska winter this year!

It’s been months since we’ve seen aurora in Anchorage, so last nights show was nice to see, even if it didn’t amount to much. The forecast is saying we should have much stronger aurora tonight if it stays clear.

Well, actually it’s the full moon, but it is the season! What a gorgeous night in Bear Valley. Now all we need is some aurora. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, everyone!

Our favorite day of the year in Alaska! Now we turn towards the light again and slowly work our way back to those incredible long days of an Alaskan summer. Anchorage set a new official record yesterday, 10 days straight of snow at the NWS office near the airport. There hasn’t been a breath of wind and the trees are draped in snow. I honestly can’t remember this long of a stretch when Anchorage was so gorgeous.
