Woke up and checked the sky at 3am and sure enough, there was a nice little auroral show happening. Got geared up and outside and the first shot I took I caught a falling star! Shot until around 4am and headed back to bed. It’s been a terrible aurora season for us here in Anchorage so far, so this was a really nice treat.
It’s going to be a beautiful day. Never get tired of waking up to a sunrise like this.

Northern Goshawk—probably a juvenile—in the falling snow this afternoon. No doubt looking for snowshoe hares.
Aurora showed up around 12:30am with a nice hint of pink at the bottom of the display. Was hoping it might turn into a big display, but it never climbed much above the horizon, and was pretty much done by 1:30am. Fun shooting on a night with a bright half-moon.
Seeing some pink at the bottom of the lower band, hoping it’s going to blow up big!
Sadly, this is about as strong as it got.
