Unrequited love in our yard. Yep, the moose are back :)

Moose rutting season is still going full blast, and while I was off on a trip last weekend, Devany got these shots of this big bull just would not give up on this cow with a calf that’s too young for her to send it on its way so she could get pregnant again. This poor bull hung around the yard for two days trying his best, but Mama Moose didn’t want anything to do with him. Imagine some cheesy soap-opera music as you scroll through the pictures. The captions tell the sordid story :)

Weekend in Seward.

We tend to stay away from Seward in the summer. It’s beautiful, but the cramped, side-by-side, noisy camping along the waterfront just isn’t our style anymore, so we go early in the year and after the tourists have left. Unfortunately the Alaska locals have started doing the same thing, so this weekend the waterfront was jammed with RV’s on a gorgeous weekend. Almost 70º on Saturday. Crazy.

Denali in all her Fall glory.

We were able to sneak in an extra trip to Denali this year and she put on quite a show. The fall colors were absolutely incredible. We had gorgeous weather the 4 days we were inside the park and Denali was out every day while we were either riding the shuttle buses or mountain biking the Park Road. Had one encounter with bears on the road while we were biking, but no big deal. One of our favorite shuttle bus drivers rescued us ;)

As usual, far too many pictures. Come along for the ride. Click on the images for commentary. What a great trip to wrap up the Denali season.
