The Alaska Range on a blustery Halloween.
It’s rainy and windy up here in Bear Valley and we still don’t have any snow on the ground, but the Alaska Range is shining on the horizon 150 miles away, so it’s going to be a Happy Halloween.

Hello stranger!
It’s been a really slim year for us to see any bears around the house. We saw a couple early this spring and then nothing—until this afternoon. Good sized healthy looking black bear in the backyard. They should be thinking about hibernation, but Anchorage set a new high temp record for this date of 54º and there’s no snow on the ground, so this guy will be up for awhile looking for his last meal.
