The season of long days is upon us.
The days are getting longer so quickly, it seems. 9:45pm tonight overlooking downtown Anchorage and the Cook Inlet with the Alaska Range mountains in the distance.

There have been several Bald Eagles flying around the house early this afternoon. I wonder if it’s mating season for them, or if they’re just out enjoying a sunny day. Backlit by the sun, it almost looks transparent.

Gorgeous full moon tonight, rising behind the house.

I woke up at 3:30am and saw the crescent moon setting behind Anchorage. There had been a forecast for possible good aurora, so I stayed up and waited to see what might happen. A fairly wide band around 4:15am, but she just never got any stronger here in Anchorage. The Milky Way was very noticeable. It’s always fun to be out shooting the night sky.
We had a gorgeous Canada Lynx in the side yard late this afternoon, the first one we’ve seen this Spring. She was really curious and hung out for almost a half-hour, which was amazing. And then she decided she wanted a closer look. Every once in a while you just get lucky.
