The sun breaks through.

We have had just a miserable stretch of weather for the past couple of weeks. This week we’ve been living inside a gray, rain-soaked cloud. That finally changed late this afternoon when we finally got to see the sun and blue skies again over the Chugach Mountains behind the house. It couldn’t come soon enough.

A different Cinnamon Cub?

We’re not entirely sure that this is the same Cinnamon colored black bear cub we’ve seen frequently the last two years. It looks quite a bit smaller, so it might be a yearling from a different mother. You can still see just a bit of it’s blonde “collar” from when it was a Cub of the Year, COY. That collar isn’t visible in the earlier shots from this Spring. Or he’s just shed his winter coat and is looking a bit scruffy on this hot day.

Quick, grab the camera!

I always love to hear my wife yell this from another room, especially when the camera is handy. Tonight it paid off. We had a lovely young female Canada Lynx in the backyard for a short visit. We don’t get to see them that often, so it’s always a real treat.

The cinnamon black-bear cub came to visit.

We had a nice visit tonight with one of the 2yr. old cinnamon cubs. I’m pretty sure this is the same one that came by a couple of weeks ago. He sniffed around the yard for quite a while but never got in any trouble. He did like climbing up on our big landscaping rocks. I grabbed a couple of quick shots from the front door and then we watched him for the rest of his visit from our deck. He knew we were there, but never showed any aggression at all. Good little boo-boo!
