The sky was filled with aurora last night.

This was the first time in a couple of years that the aurora has filled the sky from horizon to horizon here in Bear Valley. It wasn’t very strong, except for a brief period of time when she put on a nice show.

Contrasting visitors.

We’ve had some interesting visitors the last two days, a big Bald Eagle hung out in the backyard for quite a while yesterday, and today we have flocks of Redpolls swarming the sunflower seeds on the front deck railing.

The lights are out!

A common phrase when the Aurora decides to put on a show. Friends call each other, or we post on social media to let everyone know they should look up. We had a nice early show last night that started around 9pm and lasted until about 11:30pm. Might have even had a STEVE showing.

Lady Aurora put on a nice show last night.

The show last night was wonderful, certainly the best I’ve seen in 2 years. I started shooting around 10pm and lasted until 1am. I wish I had been able to stay awake longer as they evidently came back even stronger around 2:30am. So much fun shooting the aurora as she dances.
