We headed back up to Denali National Park and Preserve early Monday, August 23rd. We’re going to stay a full seven nights this trip, one of our longest stays to date. On the drive into the Teklanika campground in our motorhome we saw something we haven’t seen in 12 years.
This ended up being a trip filled with surprises—good and bad.
The Park Road was closed at the East Fork River bridge the entire time we were there due to rock slides up at Pretty Rocks in Polychrome Pass, so we lost out of seeing a lot of the park, but we still had a blast.
Oh yeah, and then there was the snow! Come along for the ride. As usual I’ve put up way too many pictures. The captions will tell the story.
Momma moose and baby came by for a visit this afternoon. It’s always good to see them looking this healthy as we slowly head towards winter.

Earlier in the summer it was smoke from wildfires burning in Siberia, now it’s fires burning in the Yukon and drifting into Alaska. We’ve been having some amazing sunsets lately.
