Here comes the sun.
A couple of days after Solstice and this is the sunset on the drive home tonight. Simply amazing colors—at about 3:45pm.
Waxing Gibbous moon rising tonight over the Chugach Mountains behind the house. Maybe we’ll get lucky and see some Geminids Meteors tonight.

…are why we love living in this magical place. It’s been clear and cold for a long while now, record-breaking here in Anchorage, and we’ve gotten a ton of snow already up here at the house, but the trees are still draped in snow. But wow, it is incredibly beautiful on a sunny day like this. These were all taken just at the top of the road heading out of Bear Valley.
We got lucky last night for viewing the almost-full lunar eclipse. It was clear and cold, -4ºf. I shot this composite starting at 9pm AST and final shot at 2am. It was worth it.
The aurora tried to put on a show last night, but it just never got very strong here and the almost full moon washed out the sky quite a bit. It’s still always fun to see it.
