On Sunday morning, something kept clunking against the side & bottom of the boat while we were staying on No Reservations for the weekend in Seward, AK., so I got up to see what was hitting us. Thought it might be a log bumping us. Turned out we had a curious visitor who wanted to play. This harbor seal was cruising under and around the boats having a good time. It was really interested in our dog, Nika, when we let her on the dock.

We picked a fun weekend to come down to Seward and watch the Polar Bear Plunge. This fundraiser for the American Cancer Society has been going on for years and years, and this year they’ve raised over $230,000, the second highest fundraiser in Alaska.
We got to see small town Alaska at its best, kicking off with a parade and then the craziness in the harbor—right at the foot of the dock our boat slip is on. Teams of jumpers that had been raising money had a blast—and the crowd did as well.

My first photo of 2023. It’s always going to be a good day, and hopefully, a good year, when Denali is glowing on the horizon. I hope your 2023 is filled with joy.
