Creating colorful icy Jewels

We haven’t done this in many years, but it’s been darned cold lately, so we got out the water balloons, put in a couple of drops of food coloring, and created these cool ice globes. A fun and easy winter project, and the depth and bubble patterns in these are just mesmerizing! They each have their own personality. Click on each image to see full-screen.

First Aurora with the new camera system.

We finally had a bit of aurora last night/early this morning, so I got to test out my new Canon R5. Definitely going to take a lot of learning to get comfortable with it. The conditions were pretty bad to get any good shots. Almost full moon, fairly weak aurora, but overall I’m fairly happy with this first attempt.
