When you wake up to this...
You just know it's going to be a pretty good day :) Clouds at sunrise over the Chugach.

Dramatic light, cloud and shadow playing across the Chugach Range behind our house today. The look of the mountains changes by the minute, so the show never gets boring.
Happy Vernal Equinox, everybody! It's the first full day of Spring here in Alaska. Spring actually hit at 8:30pm last night--while we were in the middle of getting 10" of fluffy snow and multi-car pileups. Today, it's 45ยบ and raining on and off. All that beautiful new snow is now slush, but he pussy willows are budding like crazy. Yep, just another Bipolar spring day in Alaska ;)
We're living inside a snow-globe this morning, and it's beautiful. We've had about 4" of fluffy snow, and more is expected. Sadly, it's also supposed to rain tomorrow. We just can't catch a break this winter, says the frustrated cross-country skier.
This just might be our favorite time of year in Alaska. March is blue skies, snow on the Chugach Range behind the house, and light until 9pm. The brilliant sunsets are starting, and will continue to build and intensify throughout the summer. By the summer solstice on June 21st, the sun will set far to the right of Sleeping Lady, seen here. We are blessed to live here.
