Very welcome rain.

Woke up to the first decent rain we've had all spring.  We've been desperate for more than sprinkles.  Very little snow this winter, no rain this spring.  The wildfire danger was/is extremely high and we've been dreading the possibility of a Fort MacMurray type fire.  There's only one road in and out of Bear Valley, so we're more than happy at the outlook for a wet weekend.

Blasting towards summer at the speed of life.

It still amazes me at how incredibly fast everything bursts into bloom this time of year.  All it takes is a little sprinkle of rain, the longer days of sunlight, and boom!  These blooms and buds weren't here two days ago.  Click to view full-screen.

Mother's Day Aurora!

One of the best displays we've had in Anchorage all season!  It's been a frustrating aurora season here; it seemed like we kept getting skunked by clouds every time there was a strong display.  Not early this morning!  These were all shot between 2 and 3:30am Alaska time.  Yes, there was still light in the sky, and the sunrise kept getting brighter rapidly.  The colors were wonderful.  Happy Mother's Day to all.
