Shaken, not stirred.

It's been an interesting couple of weeks weather-wise here in Bear Valley.  Cold for a couple of weeks; a whole bunch of snow--almost 3 feet in 5 days, followed by 50mph winds and +40ºf temperatures the last couple of nights with rain.   This morning at 5:30 am there was a pretty good 4.6 magnitude earthquake that gave the house a nice, sharp jolt.  Gravity took over and we've had a nice avalanche off the slippery metal roof of our woodshed.

Worth freezing for!

Lady Aurora really put on a show this morning between midnight and about 2am.  Really active, a couple

A wee bit of color early this morning.

The Aurora came out to play for a bit late last night/early this morning.  Shot between 11:30pm and 2am here in Bear Valley.  It was a brisk -10ºF at the time :)  Better than the Fairbanks aurora shooters who were getting pictures at -40ºF.   The display never really got cranking here in Anchorage, but tonight is supposed to be even stronger, so I'll be watching and waiting.

Winter Wonderland.

We got another 8" of snow last night, so at least 16" in the last two days.  Everything is buried under a blanket of white fluff and it's beautiful.  Now we head for some of the coldest temperatures we've had in a couple of years.  Life in Alaska at its best right now :)

Now this is more like it!

After 3 very non-winters, it finally feels like we live in Alaska again.  We've got more snow on the ground; they've actually been able to set track at our local cross-country skiing park and we've been able to ski more in the last 2 weeks than we have in total for the past 3 winters.  It's the first time I've had to get out the snowblower 2 days in a row since 2013.  We're loving every minute of it!
